Currency, Credit cards and banks

Poland is member of European Union, the national currency in Poland is złoty (zł, PLN). It has the following denominations: note: 10zł, 20zł, 50zł, 100zł, 200zł; coins: 1gr, 2gr, 5gr, 10gr, 20gr, 50gr, 1zł, 2zł, 5zł.

Cash machines are easy to find in Cracow, and there are many options for exchanging cash. Most often, currency exchange kiosks located in tourist areas (close to Hotel Europejski in Galeria Krakowska (1st floor) – right across the street open Monday-Saturday 9a.m.- 10p.m., Sunday 10a.m.-9p.m.; or on the left side leaving Hotel Europejski – Monday-Friday 9a.m.-4p.m.).

Currency exchange is also available at the airport.

Credit cards, such as Visa and Master Card, are widely accepted at most hotels, bigger shops and restaurants.

Major banks in Cracow are: PKA Bank Polski SA, Bank Pekao SA, Bank zachodni WBK SA, mBank SA, ING Bank Śląski SA, Getin Noble Bank SA, Bank BGŹ BNP Paribas SA, Bank Millenium SA, Raiffeisen Polbank SA.

Regular branches are usually open from 9a.m to 5p.m. Monday – Friday (in Galeria Krakowska – Eurobank (1st floor), Getin Bank (1st floor) or ING bank (-1st floor).

Climate in Poland

Polands climate can be described as a temperate climate with relatively cold winters and warm summers. In Cracow, temperatures rage from between 19°C (66F) to 25°C (77F) in September.

Water and electricity

Drinking water from the tap is safe in Cracow. The voltage requirement in Poland are 220-230Volts, same type like in other European countries (type C). You will need a voltage converter, and plug adopter in order to use U.S. appliances.
